DoubleTake Co-ed A Cappella
About
DoubleTake was founded as an all-gender jazz a cappella group at the College of William & Mary in 1993. Since then, we have expanded our repertoire considerably to include a variety of styles, with songs ranging from the golden oldies to arrangements of today’s popular hits.
“DT,” as the group is lovingly referred to by its committed members, performs several major concerts on campus each semester, competes, embarks on an annual fall tour, and records for various streaming platforms (Spotify/Apple Music/Youtube).
In past years, DoubleTake also participated in collegiate competitions. In 2000 and 2001, DoubleTake competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella at Lincoln Center. In 2007, DoubleTake advanced to the ICCA regional semifinals.
In 2015, DoubleTake placed second (receiving “Honorable Mention”) at VCU’s Richmond Rhythm competition. In Fall 2018, DoubleTake took home second place in CNU's Blue Tie Affair Competition and first place in Fall 2019! After a time of virtual performances and outdoor masked rehearsals during the pandemic, DoubleTake made a comeback at CNU's Blue Tie Affair Competition in Spring 2023 and placed second once again!
When the pandemic broke out, we knew our duty as singers was to bring people together and use our voices for good. We got together and created a virtual recording of our arrangement of "River and Roads". This video hit home with many students, families, and administrators, and we were prominently featured in the William and Mary end-of-year video! We are well equipped both musically and technologically to produce exciting content, no matter what this semester throws at us.
