English Country Dance Club
About
English Country Dance is a fun, easy to learn social dance based on historic tradition. It emphasizes collaboration between dancers in groups known as “sets,” meaning that every dancer gets to dance with every other dancer!
English Country Dance at William and Mary centers learning and collaboration through casual weekly dances. Our dances are gender-free, meaning that anyone can dance any part, and we welcome dancers of any experience level to join us. As we often say: if you can walk in a circle, you can learn English Country Dance! Our weekly dances feature expert teaching and a casual supportive environment of fellow dancers. As a social dance group, we recognize that getting to know who you’re dancing with is just as important as learning the steps, so we offer lots of opportunities to connect with your fellow dancers and with our extensive network of alumni. Weekly attendance is not required for membership, so we encourage curious potential dancers to stop by a meeting and learn what ECD is all about!
During the Fall 2024 semester, meetings will take place every Thursday from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in Sadler Center room Chesapeake C. No partner or prior dance experience required!
