Sinfonicron Light Opera Company

Sinfonicron Light Opera Company

About

Founded in 1964, Sinfonicron is student-run on every level of production, from set design and construction to direction, costuming, and administration. Members are drawn from William and Mary students, many of whom belong to one of the company's four parent organizations: our three music fraternities: Delta Omicron, Phi Mu Alpha (no longer active on campus), and Nu Kappa Epsilon, and the Theater Students’ Association. Sinfonicron produces one show every January on a three year rotating schedule of two Gilbert and Sullivan shows and one non-Gilbert and Sullivan show. Proceeds from each show are used to finance the next season's production. Sinfonicron is not your run-of-the-mill college theater company. Students come back to William & Mary two weeks before the official start of the spring semester, giving up the last third of their winter break to spend 14 days living and breathing theater. Members of the company work from 9 to 5 most days of camp to mount a truly superlative production in only two weeks. In addition to being a primary theatrical outlet for many students, Sinfonicron also offers members access to a tight-nit community of similarly dedicated students. Being part of the "Sinfoni-family" is a year long adventure and is one of the most rewarding parts of our organization.
