Wham Bam Big Band

Wham Bam Big Band

About

The Wham Bam Big Band is a student-run jazz band that performs at various venues on campus and in the Williamsburg area. Unlike the official Jazz Ensemble run by the Music Department, this group has a big band setup and can perform multiple times a semester on campus and beyond.

The Wham Bam Big Band was founded in 2007 by Marc Presler ('10) with the goal of providing a way for students at William & Mary to perform jazz in a modern and more social way. We aim to generate interest in live jazz and to create a thriving community on campus. We have an extraordinary range of repertoire, ranging from classics like "Beyond the Sea" and "Love for Sale" to popular hits like "Vehicle" and "Africa." The group has recorded and released three CDs throughout its 11-year existence.

Wham Bam also has a jazz combo, called the Wham Bam Little Band! Members are selected from the Big Band and have performed at events such as Charter Day, the Yule Log Ceremony, and more!
