Study in D.C. Opportunities
The D.C. Semester Program is an academic experience with an internship component open to students in all majors and disciplines over fall and spring semesters. Coursework taught by W&M professors is complemented by D.C. based site visits and speakers. Participating scholars get extensive help in finding an internship and counseling on how to succeed in that internship. Students earn six to eight credits for their coursework and an additional six credits for the academic work they complete in association with their internship for a total of 12-14 credits for the semester. Students live in group apartments located in the center of Washington, D.C.
The D.C. Summer Institutes are intensive courses taught by W&M professors, composed of accelerated classes and ten-week internship over summer break. The Institutes allow undergraduate student fellows to combine classroom and experiential learning, while seeing the dynamic institutions of the D.C. area first hand. Participating fellows get extensive help in finding an internship and counseling on how to succeed in that internship. Students can live in group apartments located in the center of Washington, D.C.
D.C. Winter Seminars students earn three W&M credits through this academic opportunity composed of an accelerated course that combines seminar-style discussions with a W&M professor and networking with experts and alums through guest lectures and site visits.
